Integration programs across Scandinavia and the Low Countries have produced poor results, with segregated neighborhoods and social tension growing despite decades of official policy. Voters in these regions now reject the multicultural consensus and elect governments that demand faster assimilation.
Voters responded. Since 2020, right-wing parties that reject the multicultural consensus have won elections across the region. Sweden's Democrats, the Netherlands' PVV, and Denmark's People's Party now shape law. They do not ask for ethnic purity or mass deportation. They demand faster assimilation, tougher language tests, and an end to separate integration tracks. They insist that newcomers accept local values or go home. These parties won not because Swedes or Dutch became cruel, but because the old approach produced the opposite of what it promised. Harmony requires shared culture. Officials ignored this for decades.
